Allison Lake

I have attached my resume and current transcript, but please let me know if there is any other information you need. I have no background in computer science, but my math background is decently strong. I am primarily interested in learning how math can be applied to studying perception and the brain in general.

Ugur Akyol

My main aim is to gain a firm understanding of the theories that are produced at Redwood and more importantly observe the process of how they are formed. What tools are being used and what the enviroment is like and where and how the empirical research fits. Secondly I want to be able to use the knowledge I gained there, in my research life and apply to my own field.I know it is a huge subject and I should start to learn how and whats of the science now if I want to work in such a field.I want to be a part of a research enviroment which has clearly defined aims. Most importantly I think it will be a lot of fun for me to be there and learn the material I am triyng to learn by myself at its home enviroment. I am very proficent in matlab especially and I can also post references from the professors I have worked with.

Aaron Bloch

I am a freshman cognitive science major currently considering research in cognitive neuroscience as a possible career path. This summer, I want to immerse myself in a relevant project so as to gauge and develop my interest in research and acquire new skills. I am interested in your work because I think the link between perception and conscious experience is one of the most fascinating mysteries of the mind, and I know my passion for the subject will carry over into my work ethic as a lab assistant. I have attached my resume and list of relevant coursework but want to emphasize that my hard work and commitment make me a long-term investment for the lab. I do not as of yet have experience with Matlab or Python, although I will have to take CS61A or E7 in the next few semesters for my Cog Sci major. I am even considering taking one of the two over the summer and would certainly do so if it would make a difference in my usefulness to your lab. As far as my math experience goes, I have taken math 1b and math 53 so far.

William Johnston

I am an undergraduate at Northeastern University studying Computer and Cognitive Science as well as Mathematics. While in Boston, I intern at MIT's Saxelab, which studies higher level social cognition -- primarily Theory of Mind. Those experiences combine into a present skill set consisting of Matlab, R, Python, SPM, Calculus (to multivariable), Excel, formal logic, and, perhaps most importantly, thinking about problems in neuroscience.

I am interested in continuing my involvement with neuroscience research while I am home in the Bay Area during the summer and if the Redwood Center has any opening for an intern with the aforementioned skills, I would be delighted to fill it. There isn't any work that the Redwood Center does that I would not be excited to help with, but I admit a slight bias toward projects involving learning, memory, data analysis techniques, or hierarchical organisation.

A more complete enumeration of my skills and experience lies in my resume, which cannot be attached to this message but which is available upon request.
